About SpeedCheckTest

SpeedCheckTest is a free, no-account internet speed test used worldwide. It measures ping, download, and upload speeds from six global server locations and works in 14 languages. There are no paywalls, no "premium" tiers, and no sign-up requirements — results are presented as measured, with plain-English guidance on what they mean.

Our testing logic is built on the open-source LibreSpeed methodology — the same transparent approach used by many reputable tools.

Fast facts

  • Free and anonymous — no account, no payment, and no personal data required to run a test.
  • 14 languages — English, Arabic, French, Spanish, German, Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Swedish.
  • Global server network — six server locations, auto-selected for lowest latency.
  • Open methodology — multi-stream parallel testing inspired by LibreSpeed; our full methodology is published and auditable.
  • Privacy-first — test history is stored only in the browser's local storage, never on our servers.

Data & methodology

We measure ping (minimum of 8 HTTP round-trips), download (4–8 parallel streams over 10 seconds), and upload (parallel POST requests over 6 seconds). The full methodology is documented on our about page.

Research & studies

SpeedCheckTest is building original, anonymized research into real-world internet speed — starting with the State of US Internet Speed 2026 report, covering median speeds by state and city, evening-congestion patterns, and advertised-vs-actual ISP performance. Journalists and researchers can request early access to the data or suggest datasets they'd like to see.

Expert commentary

We provide on-the-record commentary for stories on broadband speed, ISP performance, streaming and gaming requirements, Wi-Fi performance, and internet policy. We respond quickly to deadline-driven requests and are happy to supply independent perspective grounded in real test data.
