Fiber Where Available, Copper Elsewhere
The biggest divide in Turkey is fiber versus copper. Turkcell Superonline and Türk Telekom's fiber deliver fast, modern speeds; legacy DSL is far slower. If you can switch to fiber, it's worth it. Test wired to see what your line delivers, and compare with your plan before calling support.
How to Test Your Own Speed
National averages are useful context, but the only number that matters is your own. Run a speed test on a wired connection, with other devices paused, at a few different times of day. Then compare:
- Is download near your plan's advertised speed? Consistently under ~50% suggests a problem worth investigating.
- Does your ping stay under 30 ms? Higher latency points to Wi-Fi distance or congestion.
- How does upload compare? Asymmetric plans cap uploads far below downloads.
